Facebook Allows Duplicate Community Pages to Be Merged Into Official Pages

Recommended by elsterama on August 2, 2011 via Inside Facebook

Facebook has added a new “Merge” option to the Resources tab of the Page editor. It allows Page admins to apply to roll duplicate community Pages into an identically named official Page they control, adding the fans and check-ins of the community Pages to the official Page. The merge tool will allow official Page admins to gain the ability to publish content to and target with ads users who’ve accidentally Liked an unofficial version of their Page, helping some Pages instantly grow to their rightful size.Continue

Only One Month In, Google Plus Shows Promise For Online Marketers

Recommended by elsterama on July 27, 2011 via ReadWriteWeb

It may have only launched a mere month ago, but Google Plus is already showing signs of promise to online marketers, especially in its ability to drive traffic to other Websites.

Google's brand new social product has a long way to go before it poses a realistic threat to Facebook's massive marketshare, but having surpassed the 20 million user mark in under a month, its growth has been impressive. Platform News: Facebook Lets Developers Create Test Users Through the Developer App GUI

Recommended by elsterama on July 27, 2011 via Inside Facebook

Facebook now allows developers to create and manage test users for their applications via the Developer app‘s graphical user interface. Some developers will gain access to the test user feature today, and the roll out will reach all developers by next week.

IT Purchasing Decisions Are Not Made Over Social Networks, Forrester Says

Recommended by elsterama on July 27, 2011 via ReadWriteWeb

Forrester_Logo_150x150.jpgDespite all the attention that social networks like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn get as a way for marketers to expand their reach, technology buyers are not using them as primary sources of sources of purchase information, reports research firm Forrester.
