Recommended by elsterama on August 9, 2010 via ReadWriteWeb

Why You Have to Jailbreak the iPhone 4 (or iOS 4)

Recommended by elsterama on August 4, 2010 via ReadWriteWeb

Over a year ago, we wrote an article detailing the many reasons you should jailbreak the iPhone. We listed things like the ability to record video, zoom in on photos, upload videos to YouTube and customize your iPhone's background with themes, among other things. With the release of the iPhone 4 and its new operating system, iOS 4, many of those older reasons to jailbreak are no longer valid - they're features of the either the new hardware or the operating system itself. Just hours after a jailbreak for nearly every portable Apple device hit the Web yesterday - including the latest iPhone 4 and iOS 4 - and an app has been released that brings FaceTime to the 3G network.

FaceTime, Apple's video chat app released for use with the iPhone 4, has been restricted to use over wifi connections up until now, but My3G brings face-to-face video chat to the 3G network for newly-jailbroken iPhone 4 users.Continue

Apple has released its latest iPhone operating system, iOS 4.0 and just as quickly, the hacker community has managed to jailbreak it. Turn Your iPhone into a Wi-Fi Hotspot

Recommended by elsterama on May 5, 2010 via ReadWriteWeb

Feel like hacking your phone today? If you've got about 10 minutes to spare, you can turn your iPhone into a Wi-Fi hotspot using a combination of the latest "jailbreaking" software and an app called MyWi. The app takes your iPhone's 3G data connection and shares it out so other computers can connect to it as if it's just another Wi-Fi network. You can even share your 3G connection with your iPad, if you'd like.
