Google Docs Viewer, the handy online document viewer that enables you to view Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and PDF files online without having to download them to your machine, now supports 12 new popular file formats. The list of supported file types now includes:
- Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
- Apple Pages (.PAGES)
- Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
- Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
- Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
- Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
- PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
- TrueType (.TTF)
- XML Paper Specification (.XPS)
You can now view these file types just by clicking the “View” link from within Gmail, so next time someone emails you a file with one of these formats, you won’t have to download the file and hunt around for a suitable application to open or convert it.
You can also use Google Docs Viewer through Google Docs; uploading and sharing these files types through Google Docs means that anyone can view them through their browser.
